Acquired by Grede in 1966, Wichita Foundry produces ductile iron castings for hydraulic, internal combustion, transmission, heavy equipment, and other applications. The castings weigh from 2 to 70 pounds and run in volumes up to 600,000 pieces annually. | ||||

Commitment to Safety, Quality Control, and the Environment
Quality consciousness extends throughout this plant from design to shipping. Wichita has received Quality Certification from Caterpillar and the plant has been recognized for its active Grede Reliability In Product (GRIP) and Product Impact Engineering (PIE) programs. The location is QS-9000 and ISO 14001 certified. Wichita recently began automating the grinding process by adding a CNC lathe which processes round parts. Continuous improvements to automate and update processes are an ongoing standard of work. The Wichita Foundry meets World Class Environmental performamce levels with their waste reduction program performance. Annual improvements made since 1991 has resulted in a 96% reduction in material being sent to the landfill. Committed to recycling and sound environmental practices, the plant partners with an area asphalt paving company to use excess sand and dust collection waste materials in the production of asphalt paving materials. Commitment to Education and the Community Through Wichita's Management Development Trainee Program, recent college graduates hired by the Company participate in an intensive two-year training program. The Wichita plant actively supports the community through charitable donations and internship programs. | |||||
