Constructed in 1947, Iron Mountain specializes in valves and other gray iron castings with complex internal shape requirements. The best core making process is selected on a case-by-case basis to ensure clean, dimensionally accurate internal passages and contours. In the development stages, castings are cut apart to view the "hidden" passageways to confirm internal quality. Computer-controlled, hot-blast cupolas provide metal to the holding furnaces for chemical consistency to meet metal grades 25, 30, 35, and 40. | |||

Commitment to Safety, Quality Control, and the Environment
Iron Mountain installed a slag conveyor machine for beneficial reuse of waste material and better efficiency. Waste material from the foundry is being used as an aggregate to make concrete blocks. Some of the blocks were used to construct a new employee facility which includes a lunchroom, locker room, and training center. Iron Mountain is QS-9000 and ISO 14001 certified, and for over a decade has been honored with Caterpillar's Quality Recertification Award. | |||||
