Least Costly And Most Efficient Methods Of Production

With our customers in mind, we have made a strong commitment to quality and cost effectiveness in all of our operations.

At Grede, every aspect of the production process is geared toward meeting the customer's specifications. To help assure this, we have a formal quality assurance program in place. Grede Reliability in Product (GRIP) is a complete, closed-loop system designed to bring Total Quality Assurance (TQA) to castings. GRIP uses a business management approach, focusing on problem prevention at every phase of the casting process. The complete system is backed by a thorough auditing process to keep it on track.

Wm. J. Grede had a clear understanding that to succeed in the foundry industry, the customer must come first.

Working towards quality
Further assurance is provided through Grede's participation in the automotive quality system registration process. This includes certification to the ISO 9002 quality system standard as well as automotive sector requirements.

Grede employs formal problem solving approaches which are similar in nature but go by different names such as Variability Reduction Teams and Methods Study Teams (MST), to assess internal operations, to ensure constantly improving efficiencies, and to reduce in-plant costs.

With the Product Impact Engineering (PIE) program, Grede works to reduce costs another way. This seven-step engineering approach is designed to help reduce manufacturing costs in the foundry resulting in reduced-cost proposals for customers. The PIE Process involves establishing a PIE committee consisting of people from all levels of casting production. During PIE committee meetings, every aspect of a particular part is studied to find the least costly and most efficient methods of production.
