
William R. Goodin, Vice President of Human Resources & Government Relations
Bill joined Grede in January 2006 as Vice President, Human Resources following various senior level human resource management positions in several major U.S. and International organizations in the automotive, metals and utilitarian industries. He is a member of the Grede Executive Leadership Team.
Bill has more than 30 years experience in human resources management and joined Grede from Tower Automotive, a $3 billion domestic and international operation where he served as director, Manufacturing Human Resources and was responsible for 18 North American facilities and 5,500 employees. While there, Bill played a key role in the restructuring of North American operations and emergence from Ch.11 bankruptcy proceedings from a human resources perspective.
Prior to Tower, Bill served as Director, Human Resources for the driveline group of Metaldyne, a $1.9 billion industry leader in driveline and transmission products with 20 locations worldwide and 3,200 employees. In this role, Bill assisted in the consolidation of Mascotech, Simpson Industries, and GMTI to form Metaldyne. He also implemented universal health and benefit programs, introduced a new performance management process at Metaldyne, and served on the due diligence team for several key acquisitions.
Before joining Metaldyne, he served as acting Vice President, Human Resources of New Venture Gear, a $1.7 billion leader of driveline products with five locations, domestic and international, and 5,700 employees. As a member of their corporate operating committee, Bill was responsible for strategic business plan development, executive compensation planning and employee/labor relations.
His previous background and experience includes human resources management positions with Textron Automotive, Nissan Research & Development and Allegheny International.
Bill holds a bachelor of science degree in business administration from Central Michigan University and has completed executive development programs at University of Virginia, Darden School, University of Michigan, Penn State University and Lehigh University.
He is a life long member of Alpha Kappa Psi, a professional business fraternity.
